Terms of Service

1.Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Jamaica Air Traffic Controllers Association (JATCA) platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the platform.

These terms apply to all members, visitors, and anyone who accesses or uses the platform. By creating an account, you represent that you are at least 16 years of age and have the authority to enter into these terms.

2.Description of Service

The JATCA platform provides the following services to its members and the public:

• A knowledge base of approved air traffic control procedures, regulations, and training materials
• An AI-powered assistant grounded in approved knowledge sources
• A member directory and professional profile system
• Discussion forums for professional communication
• Announcements, events calendar, and polling for organisational coordination
• A support case system for member assistance
• A merchandise store for JATCA-branded products
• Public-facing pages including news, events, media gallery, and contact information

3.Member Accounts

Access to the member portal requires an invitation from a JATCA administrator. Upon receiving an invitation, you must create an account and complete the onboarding process, which includes:

• Providing accurate personal and professional information
• Reviewing and accepting these Terms and our Privacy Policy
• Configuring your privacy preferences

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify JATCA immediately of any unauthorised use of your account.

4.Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the platform to:

• Post content that is defamatory, obscene, abusive, or otherwise objectionable
• Harass, threaten, or intimidate other members or staff
• Share confidential operational information outside appropriate channels
• Upload malicious software, spam, or any material that could disrupt the platform
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to other members' accounts or platform systems
• Use the AI assistant to generate content unrelated to air traffic control or JATCA operations
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with JATCA

Violation of these guidelines may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban at the discretion of JATCA administrators.

5.Content and Intellectual Property

The knowledge base documents, training materials, and operational procedures published on the platform are the intellectual property of JATCA or their respective authors. Members may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from these materials without prior written consent.

By posting content in discussion forums, you grant JATCA a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display, store, and distribute your contributions within the platform. You retain ownership of your original content.

6.Privacy

Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the platform, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

7.Limitation of Liability

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. JATCA does not warrant that the platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.

The AI assistant provides responses based on approved knowledge base documents and should not be considered a substitute for official operational guidance. Always refer to current published procedures and regulations for operational decisions.

In no event shall JATCA, its officers, directors, or employees be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform.

8.Termination

JATCA reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at its discretion. You may request account deactivation at any time through the platform settings or by contacting an administrator.

Upon account deactivation, your profile will be anonymised in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Community contributions (discussion posts, reactions) will be preserved but attributed to "Former Member".

9.Governing Law

These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Jamaica. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Jamaica.

10.Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will notify members through a platform announcement and may require re-acceptance of the updated terms. Your continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
